Tender description

Project - Open early engagement - This means that a procurement idea is currently active; it is in the early stage of development and judging interest from potential providers. NHS England South (Wessex) (the Commissioners) invites expressions of interest (EOI) from suitably qualified and experienced providers including third sector and social enterprise organisations, private and NHS to deliver the NHS Diabetic Eye Screening Programme (NDESP) to people with diabetes registered in Dorset, Hampshire (excluding Portsmouth and South East Hampshire) and Isle of Wight. NHS England South (Wessex) will be the contracting and commissioning authority for the NHS NDESP. Commissioners are looking for providers to deliver a high quality service across two geographical areas, namely Dorset and Hampshire/Isle of Wight. The aim of the NDESP is to reduce the risk of sight loss amongst people with diabetes by the prompt identification and effective treatment if necessary of sight threatening diabetic retinopathy. In line with the national specification the screening programme must operate a 12 month screening interval for all people with diabetes invited for routine digital screening plus digital surveillance clinics for individuals who require more frequent screening. The Commissioners would like to encourage innovative solutions which will deliver value for money, improved services to patients and increased coverage. Contract award is anticipated to be in October 2016 and the successful bidder will be expected to commence service provision on 1st April 2017. If you wish to express an interest in taking part in a future procurement exercise to secure provision of these services in Dorset and Hampshire/Isle of Wight (excluding Portsmouth and South East Hampshire), please register on the In-Tend portal and submit a completed Provider Sounding Questionnaire by 12pm on 18th March 2016. The information received during this process will be used to inform potential future solutions. NHS England South (Wessex) will be holding a market event to discuss the forthcoming procurement: date to be advised. Please note that: • this notice has been issued purely as an information seeking exercise and is not part of any formal procurement process. NHS England will not be liable for costs incurred by any interested party in participating in this exercise. • NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCWCSU), acting on behalf of NHS England South (South Central) (the commissioners)
