Tender description

The dredging works associated with the small craft harbour will require the removal of approximately 78 000 m³ of material to create a manoeuvring basin and berthing area with a minimum depth of 2.8 m Chart Datum. This will include, approximately 17 000 m³ of rock dredging with the remainder (61 000 m³) being weaker materials including marine deposits. Most of the rock is granite bedrock and it is expected to be too strong to dredge without pre-treatment. The dredged material (Granite) will be used in the reclamation/breakwater to be created adjacent to the small craft harbour. Of the 61 000 m³ weaker material approximately 18 000 m³ will be used in the reclamation of the water logged area in Rossaveel Harbour, with the remainder going to a dump site at sea. Licenses are in place for disposal of this material in both of these areas.
