Tender description

The PSNI wishes to establish a contract for the supply and delivery of moulded hearing protection and communication for use by Officers. The PSNI has a duty of care to provide suitable items of health and safety equipment to its members. Officers are required to work in conditions where there are increased noise levels, such as motorcycle duties, Public Order duties and weapon training. The PSNI has identified that within these particular duties the noise levels are above the recommended safe levels. As a result of this research, a contract was previously awarded for the provision of hearing protection and communications. Approximately 3 000 sets of this protective equipment were issued to Levels 1 and 2 Tactical Support Groups (TSG); Motorcyclists; Special Operations Branch and Armed Response Units (ARUs). Whilst that contract was awarded for a period of 5 years, it has now been terminated as it reached its financial expenditure limit after year 4, due to the unforeseen increase of level 2 TSG's.
