Tender description
This is a contract award notice and as such the procurement process is complete therefore please do not respond to this notice. Although the contract notice has been issued by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), HIE may enter into contracts, through its wholly owned subsidiary company — Wave Energy Scotland Ltd (WES). HIE reserves the right to require that all contracts be entered into in the name of WES. WES takes an innovative approach to supporting the commercialisation of the wave energy sector and will take innovative technologies from concept to being ready for private sector investment. Contracts will be awarded for wave energy technology development until the technical and commercial risks are low enough for the private sector to re-enter the sector. Calls for proposals will be issued for wave energy technology development projects in areas that have been prioritised as requiring the most development and/or having the most impact on the future cost of energy. This competition will award technology development contracts for Projects that will: — Provide a step change in the capital cost and/or efficiency/performance over current technology; — Deliver a highly reliable PTO via high quality engineering and technology risk management; — Fit into the overall cost of energy; And which may also: — Deliver a PTO that can be easily integrated into different wave energy converters (WECs) and WEC device families; and — Develop a PTO that could stimulate a new form of Wave Energy convertor being developed. The competition will have 4 Stages with Applicants able to apply for 1 or more Stages. Full details can be found in the Call Guidance Document.
