Tender description

Network Rail has an extensive SDH and PDH network supporting an array of SDH/PDH services for the Operational Railway. Internally, this network is known as the FTN. The SDH layer is made up of Alcatel-Lucent 1660,1650,1642 and 1640 model devices. The PDH layer is made up of Alcatel-Lucent 1515, 1511BA and 1511MAX devices. In addition, Network Rail is also in the process of building an IP/MPLS packet network with a 100G core, known internally as the FTNx with 10G access layers. The scope of this notice is for equipment, which works at the PDH layer, working natively to the SDH layer and natively to the FTNx access layers, Ethernet connectivity, together with associated Services. Network Rail is seeking expressions of interest from a supplier who is able to supply a PDH solution which will fulfil its technical requirements, that are set out in lll.2.3) Technical Capacity: The associated Services will include, an element of design and development that encompasses the PDH equipment, a reference network, and the appropriate elements of the Network Management System. This element will then be complimented by the provision of 3rd level maintenance support and training in its product for 1st and 2nd line support. In the event multiple expressions of interest are received, Network Rail reserves the right to subsequently issue a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) to further define the level of potential suppliers. It is anticipated, should such a PQQ be required, it would be issued with a maximum of 3 months from the date of this notice. Any eventual contract Network Rail may at its sole discretion enter into, is anticipated to be a Framework Arrangement supported by a separate call-off mechanism for equipment and/or services.
