Mass Participation Running Event

Tender description

In 2013 Bury Council were awarded the Sport England contract to host the ‘I Will If You Will’ (IWIYW) project which focuses on changing women and girls’ behaviours to take part in sport and physical activity, with the aim of getting more women and girls to become more active, more often, and acting as a lever for change to help to improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Bury. As part of that project Bury Council is inviting quotations from experienced event companies to deliver a mass participation running event within Bury during Autumn 2016 and 2017, with the option to extend for a further 2 x 1 year periods in 2018 and 2019. The event is to include: • A 2k-5k fun run targeting families and beginner runners. • A 10k town run targeting individual runners and teams of runners. The mass participation events will provide a celebration event to engage with women and girls and their families. Although IWIYW is specifically targeting women and girls 14+, this event will be accessible to all. We have a target of inspiring a minimum of a 1000 participants.
