Housing Advice and Guidance

Tender description

The Council’s Housing Advice and Guidance service is designed to meet a range of support needs for people who have been made homeless or are at risk of homelessness. The services’ fundamental purpose is to prevent homelessness by supporting people to gain/ or re-gain financial stability, secure and sustain housing, improve their personal resilience, health and wellbeing, and reduce risk. The successful provider will be required to provide a level of advice and guidance to vulnerable Service Users that reside in Cumbria who often present with a range of issues associated with homelessness. Feedback from the 2015 Supporting People service review combined with the requirements of the 2014 Care Act, highlighted the ‘preventative’ benefits of accessible low level advice and guidance services. The Care Act places key duties on local authorities to prevent or delay the need for support, while focusing on the promotion of wellbeing. Keywords: Supporting People, Housing advice, Homelessness
