To collect field survey data for a large subset of water bodies of particular importance to the WFD management objectives. Field and desk-based surveys are required to confirm the classification of water bodies that are currently failing to meet the standards required by the WFD, together with those that are likely to fail to meet the standards if field data were used in classification.
