Education and training services. Educational software package. Educational software development services. Software programming and consultancy services. The University has for some years supported small scale development of on line distance learning, and more recently has begun to create course content for use in Massive Open On Line Courses (MOOCs) and to support the re-use of content across a range of purposes, such as recruitment and outreach, undergraduate on campus-learning, postgraduate learning and alumni engagement, in order to maximise the return on what, for high quality content, is a significant investment. The University has just completed a strategic review of its postgraduate taught portfolio and introduced a new revenue development process to deliver changes that will generate improved margin on existing activities or new high margin activities. This has resulted in a number of proposals for new postgraduate and undergraduate programmes increasing the demand for flexibly delivered education of all kinds including executive education; block-taught intensive courses; blended learning and on-line provision over the next 5-10 years of service. Coupled with the above it is the University's ambition to strengthen its position as one of the top 100 universities in the world through expansion of its online teaching. To realise its ambition the University is expanding and transforming online operations to: i. Launch a suite of online programmes (especially at Masters Level) to a worldwide audience by 2020. ii. Achieve a step change in the digital capabilities of its academic staff and professional services in order to meet the fast expanding digital expectations and demand from the students it recruits. iii. Identify a high quality commercial partner with the necessary profile and expertise in the online education sector to assist the University across its strategic online agenda.
