Building the right support: Learning Disabilities/Autism expert by experience family carer role

The co-production of services in partnership with Family Carers’ is essential in the continued development of services in Dorset within the national policy framework context. In particular Transforming Care highlights the need to utilize experts by experience at every level of the commissioning cycle in order to modernize and improve services for people with complex learning disabilities and or mental health issues. This will initially be a two year contract requiring approximately 36 hours per month on a flexible basis. The actual days and hours required per month will vary and will include evening and weekend work on occasion. The successful applicant will:- • Represent family carers at a range of meetings and events to ensure their voice is heard; • Contribute to the strategic planning of adult learning disability services in Dorset; and • Encourage family carers to set up their own support networks, linked to the Dorset Learning Disability Partnership Board. It is anticipated that interviews will take place during week beginning 7th March 2016. Keywords: Learning Disability
