Tender description

ABP are looking for a proven partner to deliver wireless networking to a mobile workforce across its operating environment. This will deliver application access to a SAP based software solution being rolled out from late 2016. ABP owns and operates 21 ports in England, Scotland and Wales, in addition there are 2 warehouses and an inland rail terminal, and these will need to be covered by the service offering. The SAP system will require connectivity to allow field operatives to constantly and consistently access their systems using a variety of field devices. Data throughput will need to be at a minimum of 10mbps with a less than 50 ms latency in order to achieve this. The solution will need to traverse a variety of different operational areas in ABPs port estate which includes but not limited to container terminals and compounds as well as the ability for signal penetration into port buildings. The solution must also overcome the lack of clear line of sight caused by permanent and temporary obstructions such as buildings, cranes and cargo. Furthermore, the solution will need to span significant distances (up to 10K) over water in order to provide wireless connectivity to marine pilots. As well the implementation, a managed service of the infrastructure will also be offered by the system implementer. The successful candidates will have already have completed large scale implementations in environments similar to those of ABP.
