Provision of Support on the Hinkley Point C Internal Hazards Safety Case

Tender description

ONR is seeking to engage a member(s) of staff equivalent to 1 full time equivalent, from one of the contractors appointed to Lot 1 of its technical support framework agreement for the duration of the assessment of submissions and safety cases for internal hazards for first and second consents. At present it is anticipated that the engagement will last until December 2016, although this is subject to the financial investment decision by the UK government. 2.2 The person(s) engaged will work as an integral member of the assessment team and it is expected that they will spend an appropriate amount of time working at ONR’s Redgrave Court office in Bootle. 2.3 It is envisaged that due to the nature of this work, there may be periods of time where due to quiet periods; the individual will be re-tasked to carry out activities within other areas of the reactor programme within ONR including operating reactors and generic design assessment (GDA). This work will still be internal hazards related. 2.4 The scope of the service requirement is to provide technical resources to assist ONR with the detailed assessment of the internal hazards aspects of the HPC safety submissions including:  submissions supporting resolution of GDA assessment findings;  drafting requests for additional information and / or analysis from the licensee (to be formally submitted by ONR) and advice ONR on the adequacy of the responses.  internal hazards models, other internal hazards related studies and supporting documentation;  submissions supporting the claims made in CSJ01, PCSR3, and other safety justification documents. 2.5 The technical support contractor (TSC) is required to provide technical support to ONR to review the HPC internal hazards safety case and modelling where necessary, and any other associated documentation to start construction of the technical galleries (CSJ-01) and the nuclear island (PSCR3). 2.6 The scope of services required also includes:  Provision of support to the Project Officer, as required, to assist in meetings with the licensee.
