Tender description

Fixed-wing aircraft. The Secretary of State for Defence (The Authority) through the C130J Project Team intends to place a contract with BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc. (‘BAES’) for the requirement detailed below (valued in the region of 4 000 000 GBP): — Modification and support of the ALR-56M avionics units fitted to the RAF C130J aircraft. — Replacement, training and support of the ALR-56M Pre-Flight Message Generator for the RAF C130J aircraft. It is considered that this contract can be placed using the Negotiated Procedure without Prior Publication of a Contract Notice pursuant to Article 28(1)(e) of Directive 2009/81/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council (Regulation 16(1)(a)(ii) of the UK Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011) for technical reasons. This is because BAES are the Original Equipment Manufacturer and Design Authority for ALR-56M and are the only economic operator with the knowledge, experience and specific technical know-how to meet the detailed interoperability and airworthiness requirements.
