Tender description
As part of a wider programme of work examining possible strategic heat options, BEIS is looking to better understand the market and regulatory frameworks that could underpin a re-purposing or reconfiguration of the GB gas network, if required in order to de-carbonise heating. This work would, for a set of future market models with plausible re-purposed or reconfigured gas grid roles, provide: 1) A clear description for how future market conditions could be sustained; 2) Exploration of a range of plausible approaches involving differing levels of market and centralised coordination; 3) Detailed characteristics of these models from a number of important perspectives; 4) Description of the main stages of development towards these models and an indication of possible lead times; 5) State the main risks to each model and transition and how those risks may be overcome; As part of a wider programme of work examining possible strategic heat options, BEIS is looking to better understand the market and regulatory frameworks that could underpin a re-purposing or reconfiguration of the GB gas network, if required in order to de-carbonise heating.
