School cleaning services

Tender description

The successful tenderer will be required to provide cleaning, care-taking and letting services at Barking Abbey School. The cleaning, care-taking and letting services provision has not been market tested in recent years and to ensure ‘best value’ principles are applied the Head Teacher and School Governors have made a decision to tender these service provisions. The services are currently operated in-house and the School is seeking both technical innovation and the application of current cleaning processes within tender submissions. As a result of this the key objective of the tender exercise is to be able to identify ‘best value’ and work in partnership with the chosen contractor going forward. The School was founded in 1922 and is a mixed-sex education establishment. Current student numbers on roll are 1 972 and the School is known for its high educational standards especially regarding sporting activities. Total costs for the services are circa 400 000 GBP per annum, however the School is looking at reducing this cost year-on-year by pro-actively managing and monitoring the operation throughout the contract term.
