Review of the evidence on ethnicity, gender and social mobility

Tender description

The Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission (www.gov.uk/smcpc) is inviting proposals for a data and literature review on ethnicity and gender and social mobility. The provider should look specifically at evidence on the gaps and the drivers of those gaps, focusing on outcomes in education (from child development measures through to higher education). This research forms part of the Social Mobility & Child Poverty Commission’s role as an advocate for social mobility in the UK. The purpose of this work is to gather together published data and evidence to allow us to better understand the extent to which ethnicity and gender interact with socio economic background to influence outcomes. The provider can make a decision about the extent to which it reports gender and ethnicity in the same document/narrative or separately, but the Commission would like to understand the interactions between the two – as well as how each interact with socio-economic status.
