Integrated Musculoskeletal (MSK) Services (Wolverhampton CCG)

Tender description

Wolverhampton CCG (only) wishes to procure an Integrated Musculoskeletal (MSK) Service incorporating elements of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Physiotherapy and Pain Management. Drivers for Change • Wolverhampton residents have changing health needs; ageing population and more people living with long term conditions. • The World Health Organisation (WHO) and Bone & Joint Health Strategies Project (2005 DOH) identified up to 30% of all GP consultations are about MSK complaints and MSK affects 60% of people on long term sickness. • The current model of delivery is unsustainable for the future and the CCG will be unable to afford future demand for services if they continue to be delivered in the current way. • MSK services are primarily delivered in a clinic setting. A hospital setting is not essential for the delivery of most MSK care. As a result of the above Wolverhampton CCG intends to commission a single provider to deliver a high quality and comprehensive MSK care service. The Contract period will be for 5 years with an option to extend for upto a further 2 years at the discretion of the CCG - so for clarity, the contract will start 01st April 2017 with the initial period ending 31st March 2022. There will be an option to extend at the discretion of the CCG to 31st March 2024. The spend figures given are estimates only based on historical activity they are not to be taken as a guarantee of activity.
