Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre is managed by Cornwall Outdoors which is part of the Learning and Achievement Service within the EHSC Directorate. It is a traded service providing outdoor learning, adventure education and residential experience to schools and other organisations in Cornwall. It is well used by Cornish schools and has an excellent reputation in providing a service that is high quality and value for money. The service aims to: • Provide a high quality residential setting in which young people can feel safe, comfortable and well cared for; • Provide a range of outdoor activities which are exciting and challenging and which promote teamwork and communication skills, and develop self-confidence and resilience; • Provide outdoor learning opportunities which enrich the curriculum and help raise the aspirations and achievement of young people. For the residential groups the provision includes catering (breakfast, lunch, evening meal, bedtime drink) for anywhere between 30-200 children in the period April-October (fewer numbers in school holidays).
