BORSDANE WOODS EMBANKMENT NO. 1250 ASPULL -SLOPE STABILITY & FOOTPATH REMEDIATION WORKS - 2017

Tender description

The site in question comprises an area of land approximately 55m wide by 21m high with a land slipped area approximately 30m wide. The site is located on the western side of a wooded valley with a public footpath that passes through the lower mid-slope. There is a stream (Borsdane Brook) in the bottom of the valley. The land beyond the top of the slope is grassed fields belonging to a third party. It is understood that the valley side to the west of the stream (including the landslipped area) is owned, or managed by, Wigan Council and the land to the east of the stream is owned or managed by Bolton Council. The scheme comprises of slope remedial work on a section of land within Borsdane Wood adjacent the brook. There has been a slope failure which has affected an existing footpath. Ongoing slope movements are expected and the proposed works are aimed at improving the stability of the existing slopes and reducing the risk of further failures occurring.
