Tender description

Superfast 2 Cymru (Project) is a national project to bring superfast broadband to areas of Wales currently deemed commercially unviable by the market. The current Superfast Cymru programme is due to end in 2017. Access to superfast broadband for the remaining underserved eligible premises will be addressed via the Project. The purpose of this voluntary notice is to commence a market engagement exercise to explore the range of possible solutions / strategies prior to embarking on a competitive bid process to appoint contractor/s to deliver the Project. Public sector investment of circa 30 000 000 GBP to 200 000 000 GBP may be available from UK Dept. for Culture, Media and Sport, Welsh Government and European Structural and Investment Funds programme for 2014 — 2020 in Wales. To facilitate the deployment of infrastructure that will support superfast broadband to premises that will not be able to access such a service under the current Superfast Cymru Programme. An Open Market Review to establish existing and planned (next 3 years) coverage of broadband services across Wales by all existing, and any prospective, NGA broadband infrastructure providers, is expected to be issued during November 2016. This will identify the Intervention Area in scope for further investment.
