Technical Advisor Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Services for the development of the Human Biology Building

Tender description

The Human Biology Building will be a new research and teaching facility for the three University departments of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, Anatomy and Physiology. The building contract includes the design, construction and commissioning of the building and associated site works. The site is located in an active and busy University campus, in a sensitive central location on the campus, adjacent to occupied buildings and pedestrian / traffic routes. The site is close to Protected Structures including buildings and the adjacent canal. The proposed new building has a gross floor area of approximately 8,200m2 and will be located on the south campus immediately to the north of Áras na Mac Léinn. The new building is four storeys over abasement, with a roof top plant room and an exterior envelope in aluminium, limestone and glass. The building has a reinforced concrete structure and significant mechanical and electrical services installations. NUI Galway is now seeking tenders from suitably qualified and experienced consultancy firms for the supply of Technical Advisory services (Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Services) for the construction of the Human Biology Building. The Technical Advisor will support the Employers Representative in reviewing Contractor design proposals, regularly inspecting the works, taking part in the ER’s response to Contractor submittals and other correspondence, attending meetings and communicating with all necessary parties, with a view to ensuring that the works comply with the Main Building Contract and with good engineering practice.
