Laboratory expertise to carry out routine molecular testing to deal with the emergence of new diseases in the aquaculture sector. The need exists more specifically in the area of emerging mollusc diseases but may also be applied to finfish and crustaceans, as required. Support may be provided by a number of experts but will be approximately equal to one full time equivalent. ii. Molecular biology expertise for method development and training support across the Marine Institute’s Fish Health, Shellfish Safety and Benthic Ecology units. The support is estimated at up to 55 days in year 1, with subsequent annual requirements to be determined – but subject to a total contract maximum of 150 days.
