The equipment consists of specialist imaging equipment, namely high resolution microscopes on which a significant volume of the analytical work undertaken by the Department is carried out. Optimum performance of this equipment is absolutely essential to the equality of our clinical output. The microscopes are all manufactured by Zeiss. This also includes 2 automated imaging systems which includes software and hardware only available from Zeiss. Any downtime with this equipment can result in delays in reporting which carries a clinical risk.
