Tender description

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) recruits between 880 - 1 000 students, to a suite of courses within each academic year. As these courses are all of a professional nature, students gain not only an academic qualification but also a professional qualification and eligibility to register with applicable regulatory bodies. These include the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC for allied health professionals) and professional bodies such as the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) and College of Occupational Therapists (COT). These include the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC for allied health professionals) and professional bodies such as the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) and College of Occupational Therapists (COT). As part of their course, there is a requirement for students to complete professional practice placements. This involves working in health, social care and private sector settings as well as voluntary and independent settings and in private homes. All applicants are therefore required to have an ‘Occupational Health Assessment’ to declare their fitness to join the University course and receive various vaccinations in advance of commencing their placements. Also during the course they may require an occupational health assessment to ensure fitness for their course. This would be done via a referral being made by the University. Some examples of the types of referrals are available later in the document. This tender is to establish a new contract for occupational health services to students that will commence from 1.7.2017. The initial contract term will be 3 years with the option to extend for 1 further year. The projected contract spend per annum is approximately 380 000 GBP, thus we estimate the total contract over three (3) years to be worth 1 140 000 GBP.
