Network Rail has developed a new performance specification to cover the requirements of obstacle detection (OD) at Manually Controlled Barrier with Obstacle Detection (MCB-OD) level crossings. The OD system is to provide both derailment and people protection for all sizes and configurations of MCB-OD crossings. Network Rail will be looking for a supplier to provide systems that will deliver the requirements of the new specification from 2018 onwards. Network Rail will be looking for a supplier or suppliers to provide systems that will deliver the requirements of the new specification from 2018 onwards. The current indicative work bank varies between 20 and 70 crossing per year. Any Supplier wishing to express an interest in participating in this opportunity should do so via the BravoNR portal and must have a product with a Technology Readiness Level of no lower than 6.
