Tender description

Wiltshire Council have identified that between 2007 and 2026, the older population within Wiltshire is likely to increase by 57.9 %, which is higher than the average for England and is the 2nd highest growth projected for the South West region. Within Amesbury, the older population is predicted to increase by 74.2 % over the next 13 years. Statistics from the 2011 census indicate that 4 874 people, 14.8 % of the Amesbury area population, were aged 65 or over. In January 2011 Wiltshire Council's Cabinet approved the Older People's Accommodation Development Strategy. The purpose of this strategy was to create a framework for the development of accommodation that meets the needs of the older people of Wiltshire. For the Amesbury area it identified a need for a new Extra Care Home. As part of a Section 106 Agreement, a site has been successfully negotiated within the Bloor Homes, Kingsgate Housing Development site in Amesbury as best suited to meet the specific requirements of location, accessibility, local services and other needs. A local shop, pub and community centre are all located on this new development and within a 5 minute walk. The Council's requirement is for a 60 Unit ECH comprising 40nr 2 bed apartments, 20nr single bed apartments together with a range of communal facilities and external hard and soft landscaping works which are to be successfully completed and handed over to the Client by 31.3.2018.
