Tender description

The framework agreement is for the provision of outsourced pathology reporting services including sample collection, transportation, processing, sectioning, staining, testing and reporting across various disciplines, mainly histology. Reporting will be carried out from a variety of sample specimen formats including, but not limited to stained slides, wax paraffin blocks and unprocessed specimens. There will be a range of reporting formats offered with progression into tele-reporting and digital processing via electronic scanning technologies. There is a nationwide shortage of histology pathologists and an increasing pressure on the NHS to reduce diagnosis turnaround times. The purpose of this framework agreement is to establish an all-emcompassing solution for our members. Suppliers will contribute to reduction of waiting times by providing prompt diagnosis and turnaround of samples from point of collection through to reporting. It is intended that HTE members will benefit from standardisation of costs via a transparent pricing model, leading to greater understanding of their spend and usage.
