Tender description

The National Composites Centre intends to procure equipment to provide an Injection Over Moulding Capability to be used for manufacturing research and development purposes. The functional requirements for the capability are being confirmed with industry. It is envisaged that the equipment will deliver a state of the art injection over-moulding capability with the ability to: — Produce full scale components for aerospace and other industries. The anticipated working envelope will be of the order of magnitude of 1 square meter. — Offer a turnkey solution for thermoforming and injection process steps. — Utilise a wide range of polymer materials, up to and including high performance aerospace grades. — Potentially utilise a flexible range of reinforcements in the injected material. — Demonstration and commissioning tooling may be included in the package. — In process monitoring capabilities. A degree of process automation and material transfer is being considered.
