Tender description
Kent's Accommodation Strategy — Better Homes: Greater Choice Opportunity for a capital contribution towards the remodelling of services to deliver extra care housing KCC has access to capital funding (less than 100 000 GBP) and is looking to invite Registered Providers of housing for older people to come forward with possible solutions to delivering, over time, extra care housing for people over the age of 55 in the town of Faversham. You will have experience of delivering housing with care or support and have accommodation that could be remodelled to meet the requirements. You would need to have a good understanding of the care and support needs of the existing tenants. The capital funding that is available could be used to contribute towards building modifications, should that be required, to allow access to meals provision, public access to communal facilities with secure access to the flats for the tenants only, provision for a care provider to be based 24 hours a day and to deliver a care function, other facilities that support people with high level care, support or mobility needs. The Council require a housing partner that will be willing to work with KCC in remodelling an existing scheme in Faversham, to become an extra care scheme. KCC does not expect existing residents to have to move as their needs would develop over time, however there could be some people, identified through the housing providers consultation process, who would want to move. KCC would require the housing provider to enter in to a nominations agreement and to be present at lettings panels allowing the District Council and KCC to nominate suitable residents. KCC would commission a separate provider to deliver the care services required to meet the Client needs. The building will be fully wheelchair accessible throughout including the flats. If interested, please submit by 12 pm on 1.12.2016 no more than two sides of A4 to accommodationsolutions@kent.gov.uk outlining: — Willingness to work with KCC, Swale Borough Council and a care provider — Experience of delivering housing with care or support to older people — Outline of building works required at your property/s to deliver the requirements — including proposed costs — Estimate of how quickly you could expect to undertake the necessary alterations — Proposed rent and service charge levels for an extra care scheme — Details of nomination/void agreement requirements For more information regarding definitions and design principles please see www.kent.gov.uk/accomodationstrategy
