Big Creative Academy - Temporary Accommodation

Tender description

The design and construction of temporary education facilities for Big Creative Academy, on behalf of the Education Funding Agency (EFA), at the former Willowfield School in Walthamstow, London, for completion by August 2017. The proposed works comprise three main elements, plus associated site infrastructure works and services connections, as follows: 1. Light refurbishment and fit-out including partial replacement of M&E systems in an existing 2 storey (traditional brick construction) building (c. 1300m2); 2. Light refresh and fit-out including minor M&E works in an existing 2 storey modular building (c. 350m2); 3. Provision and installation of a new 2 storey modular building (c. 400m2) and associated hire arrangements for a 2 year period. The principal contractor will be appointed on a D&B basis and responsible for the further development of the proposed design and planning permission for the modular buildings, including discharge of relevant planning conditions. The proposed form of contract is the JCT 2011 Intermediate Building Contract with Contractor's Design (ICD), with EFA standard amendments. The final appointment of the contractor will be on the basis of the criteria to be published in the tender documents. The tender documents will be available once the notification period has expired on 5 December 2016, with tender tender returns due by 23 December 2016.
