Upgrade of Sports Pitches at Jordanstown & Coleraine campuses

Tender description

The Contract is for the upgrade of sports pitch 6 at Jordanstown campus and sports pitch 4 at Coleraine campus. The existing sports pitches comprise sand carpet natural turf surfaces, and are primarily used for GAA/Gaelic football and soccer. The works shall include the removal of the existing pitch surface and sand carpet, review and upgrade of existing drainage systems, replacement of pitch surface/makeup with a new fibresand topped sand carpet, including drainage improvements and critical maintenance to successfully meet the requirements of the grow in period. The works shall also include the provision of an irrigation system for sports pitch 4 at Coleraine Campus only, involving provision of services to supply a new booster pump station and a new underground water storage tank, associate pitch irrigation pipework, associated mechanical and electrical works to supply a new travelling sprinkler system and surface water drainage connections to the new underground tank. The Contractor shall be required to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanical & Electrical Sub-Contractor & irrigation system/pump supplier to complete the works associated with the irrigation system and water supply. Each University Campus and general sports grounds surrounding both pitches shall remain operational for the duration of the works. The Contractor shall be required to maintain adequate protection of both pitches during construction, during grow in period and up to project handover. It is anticipated that the works/Contract Period will commence in early April 2017 and practical completion by early July 2017, with grow in period completion by end of October 2017, and End of Defects Period by early July 2018. A detailed programme of the works will be drawn-up with the successful contractor.
