Mechanical and Electrical Design Consultant Refurbishment Works, Building 6 IWM Duxford

As part of a major programme of works at IWM London, IWM will be required to provide additional storage space for our collections across the North side of IWM Duxford. In support of this some of the conservation functions currently undertaken at London will transfer to Duxford. This Contract covers the appointment of an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Design Consultant to assist IWM with the refurbishment of building 6, located on the North site at IWM Duxford. The building currently houses part of the museum’s collection (predominantly paper), some of which is to be decanted elsewhere to allow for the refurbishment works to be delivered. Building 6 was built in 1933 with the original use designation as dining rooms and social space. It was built to the Air Ministry and Director of Works drawing No 852/32 to a style characteristic of that pioneered by Lutyens. The building has grade 2 listed status.
