Mechanical and Electrical Design Consultant Building 104 Storage Projects, IWM Duxford

Tender description

This Contract covers the appointment of an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Design Consultant to assist IWM with the following projects: • Building 1 – the potential construction of a new building, with approximate GIA of 1,200 sq. m (referred to as 104 new build). • Building 2 – the conversion of Building 104 to accommodate additional storage, with approximate GIA of 1,200 sq. m. Note: to achieve the required space it is likely that a mezzanine floor will need to be inserted into the existing building volume. See section 3.3 of this document for further information about the nature of these buildings but it should be noted that they should be PD5454 compliant, meet the BREEAM excellent rating and it is possible that fire suppression will be required in the new building. Whilst the buildings will be adjacent, and a link between the two is seen as advantageous, the design proposals will need to be developed to allow the buildings to be split and developed independently if Planning Permission is not granted for the full scheme. The Mechanical and Electrical Design Consultant will act as Lead designer and be responsible for managing the design input of a team of consultants separately appointed by the IWM comprising: • Structural/Civils design consultant • Mechanical and Electrical design consultant • Specialist fit out designers/contractors It is envisaged that the works will be procured on a traditional basis.
