Tender description

Durham County Council is looking to conduct a future procurement exercise for a library management system (LMS) together with a radio frequency identification (RFID) system, both to be implemented simultaneously. Prior to issuing any procurement exercise, the Council has decided to engage the market in a soft market testing exercise to understand what is available from suppliers and whether they fit in with the vision of Durham County Council's view on future library services. Durham County Council is 1 of the few remaining councils nationally that operate an internally developed library management system. This technology has long provided the library service with a more than adequate infrastructure that has developed with the service as new demands have arisen, or requirements have changed. However, with technology now moving at a pace and the need to integrate 1 system with another, the decision has been taken to investigate the LMS/RFID market and move to procure a suitable system which will allow for a more flexible library service, but which will interface with other Council and external systems.
