Tender description

Wandsworth Borough Council and the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames (‘the Authorities’) are inviting tenders from suitably experienced and qualified contractors for the provision of public health funeral services. The Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 places a duty on a local authority to make arrangements for the burial or cremation of any person who dies in its area, where the authority is satisfied that no other arrangements have been made or are being made. The successful Tenderer will be required to provide funeral services in accordance with the Specification, to enable the Authorities to comply with this statutory duty. Tenderers are referred to the tender documentation which sets out the Authorities' requirements in detail. The Authorities will enter into a joint contract with the successful tenderer. The term of the proposed contract is 3 years (36 months) to commence 2.4.2017 with option at the absolute discretion of the Authorities to extend for a further period or periods of up to 2 years (24 months). The estimated value of the contract over the initial term of 3 years and potential extension period of 2 years is 162 500 GBP.
