Tender description

DFID is seeking to appoint a service provider to implement a youth volunteering scheme that will see between 3 000 and 6 000 UK volunteers annually, aged 18-25 working alongside volunteers from host countries on development projects that will make a demonstrable difference in some of the world's poorest communities. The scheme will aim to achieve 3 key outcomes: (i) Poverty reduction / sustainable development overseas; (ii) Personal and social development of volunteers and (iii) Building the skills for each volunteer to become active global citizens. Most placements should last for 3 months. Different placement lengths should be considered can be considered if by providing them the scheme will deliver greater outcomes and/or would be able to offer places to young people who would not otherwise be able to participate. The successful bidder will be required to carry out tasks to manage the entire volunteer journey. The programme budget of approx. 78 000 000 (excluding VAT) will be based on a system of payment by outputs. The duration of the contract is expected to be from June 2015 for 42 months. There will be an option to extend the contract for a further 2 years.
