Tender description

The UK's Department for International Development (DFID) is implementing a three year Business Engagement programme between April 2016 and April 2019. The supplier will work in India to engage with private sector (as well as other stakeholders) helping to mobilise private sector resources to have better development impact on the ground (not limited to but particularly focussed on India's eight low income states). The engagement could be in the form of providing technical assistance to individual corporates on developing development impact initiatives, setting up multi-stakeholder platforms, working on policy initiatives to influence the wider eco-system, amongst others. The approach is expected to be flexible, responsive and demand-led with DFID providing the overall thought leadership and strategic oversight. The contract will be issued for 36 months, and will be reviewed after 24 months. Progress beyond this will be subject to DFID's approval of proposed programme performance. DFID may scale up/down the requirements of this contract, and may extend for up to 12 months, should an ongoing need for the services exist. Suppliers are invited to complete all requirements of this 1-stage Open Procedure. For background information, DFID India's engagement with the private sector, and focus on jobs and growth, as a route out of poverty is already well under-way. Our business engagement strategy complements the new India-UK development partnership. The international community increasingly recognises the key role of private sector in contributing to the delivery of Sustainable Development Goals. As part of DFID's increased engagement with the private sector, we are keen to build strategic alliances and new partnerships with corporate houses, philanthropy (corporate and individual) and foundations, in line with our transitioning programme and delivery models, helping to generate better development impact.
