Who Speclialist Work With The role will work with projects including infrastructure, application development and service management as well as teams across Border Force, the Home Office and other government departments and agencies. Key interactions will be with Border Force operational staff and Home Office technical teams. What Specialists Work On The role will involve managing specific technical application and infrastructure delivery solutions to an existing complex operational technical capability that forms part of Border Force’s operations. Other duties will include the preparation and submission of project progress reports / risk assessments etc and ensuring milestones are met in a timely and efficient fashion. Where the Work Takes Place Locations: 2MS London SW1P 4DF Croydon - teams are potentially looking to move to Croydon in the early part of 2017. Accommodation yet to be confirmed. Posts can be based across the London Estate which includes Bedfont Lakes – TW14 – 8HA. Early Market Engagement Not applicable. Working Arrangements The individual should be based on site three or more days a week, some travel to other locations within the UK should be expected. Posts can be based across the London Estate which includes Bedfont Lakes – TW14 – 8HA. Security Clearance The post requires as a minimum SC – Security Check. Additional T&Cs None. Skills & Experience Adhere to agreed project delivery standards ensuring output/delivery is fit for purpose. Experience of managing large, national and complex application; infrastructure and / or service management projects with a solid track record of leading complex deliveries. Detailed experience of project management tools such as MS Project. Ability to manage and work with third party providers, external suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely provisioning and implementation of technical solutions. Be a strong and resilient deliverer with skills in collaborating effectively and achieving tangible outcomes in the face of significant challenges. Ability to work within an AGILE / Prince 2 environment therefore the requirement for PRINCE2 certification and AGILE / Waterfall experience is essential and must be able to be demonstrated. Ability to cope in a technically complex and fast-changing environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing aspirations in a deadline-driven situation. Strong planning and organising skills including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously. Experience of working with suppliers to contribute to and assure detailed technical design and commercial offerings. An understanding of commercial approaches/considerations. Able to communicate with key stakeholders at varying levels in both written and verbal communication, including the translation of technical communication to something understandable for a wider audience. Nice to Haves Experience of Public Sector programmes. Experience of national security related programmes. Experience of programmes whose outcomes have or may have a high public profile.
