Tender description
The University Information Services department provides federated IT services to the wider collegiate University, supporting in excess of 180 individual institutions. The UIS has approximately 250 staff, of which ~25 provide network and telephony based services. The University is looking to appoint a single provider of long range Optical Fibre Interface products operating typically on single-mode optical fibre at distances up to 15 kilometres. The value of projected purchases is estimated to be about 200 000 GBP per year. However, The University cannot guarantee levels of business for the successful supplier due to the fully devolved nature of purchasing decisions. University departments continue to have choice as to which supplier best suits their requirements.
