Tender description

1.1 Cambridge University Botanic Garden cultivates an internationally important and diverse collection of over 8 000 plants in a Grade 2 star listed heritage garden. It combines its role as a University research and teaching facility with that of public education and amenity. It is the third most visited attraction in Cambridge City after King's College Chapel and the University's Fitzwilliam Museum, receiving over 250,000 visitors a year. 1.2 The Agreement with our current catering provider will end on 31.3.2017 and the Garden is tendering the contract in line with EU Procurement Directives for the award of a three-year contract at the same facility with effect from 1.4.2017 until 31.3.2020 with an option to extend by up to 2 years in 12 monthly increments until 2022. 1.3 The café (80 indoor seats and 116 outside seats) is run from the kitchen in the Garden's Gilmour Suite of the Sainsbury Laboratory Cambridge University Building. The successful supplier will be required to sign a lease for the café kitchen. Suppliers are asked to note that the café kitchen has limited food preparation and storage facilities.
