Provision of non-invasive adult ventilation, paediatric ventilation and cough assist. This procurement is for the provision of non-invasive adult ventilation, paediatric ventilation and cough assist. It is anticipated that equipment and support services will be provided in both an Acute setting i.e. hospital premises and a Community setting i.e. the patients home. Non Invasive ventilation refers to methods of providing ventilatory support to a patient without placing an artificial airway in the main windpipe — trachea. This is usually achieved by fitting a mask covering the nose or mouth and nose, or using nasal tubes or a mouthpiece, which is connected to a ventilator by tubing. The ventilator detects when the patient tries to take a breath in and delivers an extra flow of air to increase the volume of air inhaled. It is envisaged that the Contractor will be requirement to supply all necessary related equipment and consumables and also provide training and support services to medical staff and patients.
