Tender description
The University of Southampton is seeking to develop an unmanned system for oceanographic research and similar applications, consisting of an unmanned air system - the University’s SPOTTER maritime surveillance aircraft - and an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), which is capable of gathering conductivity, temperature and dissolved oxygen data in the top 500m of the ocean and which can be delivered using SPOTTER to the survey area. We are thus seeking to purchase an AUV capable of air launch operations and with an overall weight not exceeding the design payload of SPOTTER (5kg). An AUV system should be supplied, including all the hardware (including any ground stations) and software required to conduct profiling operations using the vehicle.
