Non-hazardous refuse and waste treatment and disposal services

Tender description

Coventry City Council is responsible for the collection and disposal of all household waste arising within the boundaries of the City. In addition, the Council operates a successful commercial waste service operation with a customer base of approximately 3 000 businesses. In line with the waste hierarchy and government targets the Council is looking for an alternative disposal route to landfill for the element of mixed municipal waste collected annually that is not suitable for energy to waste. Sources of waste will be from commercial skip and wheeled bin collections, street cleansing operations and other sources, included contingency planning for the Council operated waste transfer station. The Council is looking for a contractor who is flexible to the needs to the Council and able to work with them to provide a solution at short notice to a variety of situations. This is an open tender process to appoint a sole supplier whereby The Council commits to a minimum delivery of 3 000 tonnes over a 12 month rolling year. The Council requires a minimum capacity available tonnage of 7,000 tonnes over a 12 month rolling year.
