Tender description
The Councils’ detailed requirements are defined in the Service Specification, which is available, within the tender pack, via registration on the East Midlands Procurement Portal: www.eastmidstenders.org There are approximately 27,000 unpaid carers in Nottingham City, 8.8% of the total population (2011 Census). This is a slightly lower percentage than the average in England (10.2%). As noted above, the true figure is likely to be much higher since many carers don’t self-identify. The Census showed that approximately 3,300 of these carers are aged under 25 years old – just over 12% of all carers in Nottingham. Many young carers are not currently being identified or assessed for support, and remain hidden from official sight for a number of reasons. These can include family loyalty, stigma, bullying, young carers’ own lack of awareness of their entitlements, and reluctance to seek formal help. In 2015/16 1,435 young people aged under 18 were the subject of a Common Assessment Framework assessment (CAF), a multi-agency assessment to identifying the needs of the child and how those needs can be met. Approximately 4% of these young people were identified as young carers as part of the CAF – 57 children in total. The Young Carers Support service will deliver a range of support services for carers who are providing care and support for a vulnerable adult or child in Nottingham City. For the purpose of this service; a young carer is a young person under the age of 18 who is providing unpaid support to parents, siblings, guardians or other family members who could not manage without this help. The duration will be for 3 years, with a possible extension of 1+1 years at the council's discretion Contract to commence 1 April 2017
