Construction work for buildings relating to education and research

Tender description

The IMPACT project will deliver a transformative research environment, aligning world class technology development and delivery with training in a highly multidisciplinary environment including intensive collaboration between industry and academia. The College of Engineering at Swansea University proposes this large-scale research and development operation on its Bay Campus for the benefit of the regional and the wider economy. Swansea University wish to engage a Principal Contractor on a Design and Build basis to develop a design from RIBA Stage 2 under a professional services contract to conclusion of an agreed commercial offer for the construction of the IMPACT Building. On conclusion and agreement of an affordable lump sum offer, the University shall appoint the Principal Contractor to deliver the Works to completion of the project including all design elements thereafter. As a proposed turnkey project, construction value will include but not limited to provision of FF&E (including ‘soft seating’, specialist project/collaborative furniture solutions), AV, IT networks and items, desktop peripherals etc. (list not exhaustive). Appointment is on the basis of securing funding from external bodies sufficient to deliver the project, so suppliers bid in the understanding that the University may terminate appointment at any point prior to securing full funding (not including completed activities up to the termination point).
