Presentation Network Support and Upgrade

RTÉ invites submissions, from suitably qualified Tenderers to replace the "Pres Network". This is a broadcast critical network, requiring the highest levels of availability and reliable operation. This is a Layer 2 only network, with all Layer-3 functionality is provided by upstream devices. 24/7 support of the equipment is also required. This tender seeks to ensure a solution which must consist of two or more data center class switches capable of running multi-chassis link aggregation up to the layer-3 core, and down to the hosts. Uplinks to the core will initially be 1000BASE- LX uplinks, with the potential to upgrade at a later date to 10GBASE-LR by replacing the pluggable optical module. Two ports only will be available on each of the two upstream core switches. The proposed solution will leverage proven architecture geared towards 100% uptime and a high-bandwidth, high-availability design. On completion of the project, the Pres LAN will be more robust, be able to tolerate significant outages with no discernable effect on production and be easily expandable to almost double the capacity.
