Tender description

Essex County Council (ECC) is responsible for the after-care and management of 12 closed landfill sites. 3 of these sites require landfill gas control which is currently undertaken using gas flares. Investigations have shown that these 3 sites can sustain low levels of electricity generation from landfill gas. Subject to planning permission, Essex County Council is seeking to install electricity generating equipment to utilise the landfill gas being mirco-generation equipment for to ensure continued management of landfill gas and to allow ECC to secure an income from sale of any electricity produced from the 3 land field sites. The successful provider will be responsible for serving and maintaining the 3 generators on each of the sites for a period of 5 years. There will be an option to extend the service and maintenance agreement on an annual renewal basis up to a maximum period of 5 years in total.
