Delivery of Meat Official Controls in Approved Establishments in England and Wales.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA), is looking for an organisation or organisations that can provide Contract Official Veterinarians (cOVs) and Contract Meat Hygiene Inspectors (cMHIs) in FSA Approved Meat Establishments in England and Wales. The cOVs and cMHIs will ensure these establishments are complying with EC and UK law by making sure appropriate controls are in place to ensure this food is safe to eat and that animal welfare controls are effective. The specific services required are: •Provide Veterinarians and Contract Meat Hygiene Inspectors to undertake the delivery of official controls in accordance with EC and UK law in FSA approved meat establishments •Provide related services on behalf of Other Government Departments •Inspection and examination of meat for export to third countries and EU non-harmonised countries •Certification of export health certificates The Tender lots will be geographically split into 6 Lots across 3 Regions; 1. North of England 2. Wales and the West of England 3. East of England The multimillion pound contract is likely to be 2 years with the potential to extend for a further year. Invitation to Tender opened 13th October 2016 and it will be open for 5 weeks. Contract award will be December/January with the contract start date of 27th March 2017.
