UK SBS FWRECR16022 Evaluation and Quantification of the Societal and Economic Impact of Selected NERC Funded Research

Tender description

The project will evaluate and quantify the societal and economic impact of NERC funded research, with a focus on the impact delivered via: • The benefits that NERC science provides to the UK public sector, through increased effectiveness of public services; • The benefits to UK companies; and • The benefits, in terms of economically measurable environmental improvements, that policies based on NERC science generates for wider UK society. International impacts can be part of the evaluation, in so far as it is possible to quantify their benefits to the UK. NERC has selected two areas of its research portfolio to evaluate: • Impact of NERC science on UK water supply / water quality (including environmental impacts); and • Impact of NERC science on policies that ban the use of tributyltin (TBT) / booster biocides .
