Tender description

The Council are seeking out a partner to assist them in improving our reuse of household items, which will complement our existing recycling services and contribute to our recycling performance. The partner will be providing the statutory bulky waste collection service on behalf of the Council for reuse items. On this basis, the partner will be required to collect reusable/recyclable bulky waste from householders and the household waste recycling centres, where requested. The purpose of this invitation to tender is to run a procurement to appoint a re-use partner. Cardiff is the largest Local Authority in Wales with a population of approximately 358 000 occupying nearly 153 000 households. The City of Cardiff Council is looking for a third sector partner to deliver a reuse partnership to help the Council meet its statutory recycling targets. At present the local authority is working towards a statutory 64 % target (2019/20), of which reuse will need to contribute towards.
